Dubai’s Al Maktoum Stadium heads list for global awards

OBE Architects-designed arena up against Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Japan National Stadium

Al Maktoum Stadium, the home of UAE football team Al Nasr, has been nominated for the world’s largest online stadium awards.

The OBE Architects-designed and  Saudi Binladin Group (SBG)- built stadium will compete against the recently completed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as well as the $1.43 billion Japan National Stadium in the competition.

Al Maktoum Stadium itself cost $80 million to renovate  – the original stadium opened in 1978 – with work starting in 2017 and completing in 2018.

The winner will be decided by an online vote as well as by a jury of experts. Voting closes on 15th March.
