Completion and commissioning of Bahrain LNG terminal called a ‘critical milestone’ for project

The construction and commissioning of a receiving and regasification terminal in the Kingdom of Bahrain has been completed, according to Bahrain LNG.

Bahrain LNG is the developer and owner of the terminal, which is touted as the first of its kind in the region developed around a PPP basis.

“The successful completion and commissioning of Bahrain LNG terminal is a critical milestone for this project which is of strategic importance to the energy sector of the Kingdom of Bahrain,” said Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil of Bahrain.

The terminal is said to comprise a floating storage unit, an offshore LNG receiving jetty and breakwater, an adjacent regasification platform, subsea gas pipelines from the platform to shore, an onshore gas receiving facility, and an onshore nitrogen production facility.

Sheikh Khalifa added, “We sincerely congratulate all parties involved in this tremendous achievement, and we look forward to the upcoming commencement of commercial operations in order to secure regasification services to the Kingdom of Bahrain.”
