Hewlett launches Oman operations

Hewlett Construction Company, the UK based firm, has set up operations in Oman as it looks to tap into the burgeoning power, defence, oil and gas industries in the Sultanate.

In a report by the Muscat Daily, the managing director of the company, Alan Cooper, said that the company would try to introduce leading technology, flexibility and expertise in the Sultanate. He said that it would help ease the process of constructing business in the country.

“We are a medium sized company and Oman is the first stop in our Middle East journey. From the work perspective, we have long term plans for the company here since the country has a steady government and a strong economy. We are also aware of the rail schemes coming up in Oman and in the near term we will also focus on them,” Cooper said.

With 25 years of experience, Hewlett is one of the largest privately owned, multi-disciplined civil engineering companies in the UK. The company operates throughout Britain from three regional offices. It has a workforce of more than 400 employees.

“Given Oman’s new five-year spending plan, the opening of our Muscat office will allow us to be part of the successful development and advancement of a world class city in years to come,” Cooper added.

“We have invested heavily in finding the right local partner in Oman who knows the market and has already been very instrumental in introducing us to a number of exciting business opportunities which we are actively pursuing.”
