New $46mn Dragon Mart expansion officially opens
Four-level complex a 150 shops and kiosks across 11,000sqm of ground floor retail space
A new $46million retail complex and multi-storey car park has been inaugurated inside Dragon City, home of Dragon Mart.
Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah conducted the official opening of the four-level complex yesterday which “brings a more diverse range of shops, quicker access and greater convenience to the 40 million people who visit each year”.
Home to around 150 shops and kiosks and comprising 11,000sqm of ground floor retail space it also opens with a 900 parking bay multi-storey car park.
According to developer Nakheel, it was built to meet growing customer demand at Dragon Mart, “where more than 1,700 Chinese tradesmen and women operate 5,000 shops, restaurants and entertainment outlets”.
One of Dragon Mart’s biggest and longest-standing tenants Sun Tour is occupying the entire retail area, with a new range of shops selling clothes, household goods, electronics, luggage and more.
Dragon City is the world’s biggest Chinese trading hub outside mainland China and the master development continues to expand. An ibis Styles hotel opened in 2016 alongside the Dragon Mart 1 and 2 retail destination. A Premier Inn will open this year and the community’s first residential development, Dragon Towers, is also under construction.
A special promotion to celebrate the opening is running from now until 17 February 2020. Spend AED200 at Sun Tour stores in the new complex for the chance to win a new Geely SUV, a go-kart, smart phones and smart watches.
