Guardian Glass helps Sabic’s Home of Innovation achieve zero net energy balance

Project also showcases a full range of the latest commercially available technologies that yield net zero energy use

Guardian Glass has supplied high performance coated solar control glass to help petrochemical giant Sabic to achieve a zero net energy balance at its Home of Innovation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Sabic’s Home of Innovation is the first single-family home in the Middle East to earn Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council’s LEED rating system. According to a statement from Guardian Glass, the 800 sqm demonstration home is designed and built to generate as much electricity as it consumes over a 12-month period, to achieve a zero net energy balance.

Additionally, the home showcases a full range of the latest commercially available technologies that yield net zero energy use, water conservation and environmentally responsible building materials and techniques to pave the way forward for more sustainable home building around the world, it stated.

As stated by a senior employee from the company, Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral 30 double silver coated solar control glass, used in all the windows and some doors of the home, helped the building achieve a zero net energy balance.

Moreover, since its launch in May 2016, the Home of Innovation has helped in creating more than 20 investment opportunities. It received more than 4,000 visitors and held more than 30 workshops on key subjects ranging from business, innovation, and investment.
