L&T Construction wins multiple EPC contracts from JUIDCO

India-based Jharkhand Infrastructure Development Company Limited (JUIDCO) has said that it has awarded an EPC contract to Larsen & Toubro Construction (L&T Construction) to augment and strengthen phase II of the Dhanbad Urban Water Supply Scheme in Jharkhand, India.

Under the terms of the contract, L&T Construction’s scope of work will include design and construction of an intake structure of capacity 77 million litres per day (MLD); two water treatment plants of aggregate capacity of 15.5 MLD; 584km of transmission and distribution pipelines; ground level service reservoirs of aggregate capacity of 8600kl; as well as house service connections, and associated electromechanical and instrumentation works, including operation and maintenance for five years.

The Dhanbad Urban Water Supply Scheme based under the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation in Jharkhand will ensure that the project will supply 445,000 people with drinking water. The project will also be responsible for maintaining requisite pressure involving automation during water supply, including measurement of input and output water quantity. Other quality checks will also be done through suitable SCADA and other instrumentation works, and to limit water losses in the system and ensure consistent good quality of water, it stated.

Additionally, L&T Construction is also executing the Hazaribagh and Ranchi urban water supply schemes for JUIDCO in India.
