Shurooq to showcase boutique projects at WTM 2019 in London

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority says 1.7m tourists spent a total of $172m in the emirate last year

The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) plans to showcase eight of its boutique-style projects and eco-destinations at the forthcoming World Travel Market (WTM) 2019 exhibition. The event will be held from November 4 to 6 in London.

Shurooq will also share updates on Sharjah’s tourism sector and will push its sustainable leisure and ecotourism agenda forward.

According to a statement, the authority’s destinations developed under the ‘Sharjah Collection’ brand have played an enormous role in attracting a new wave of tourists to Sharjah, in search of nature-inspired, authentic Arabian experiences in the Middle East. The brand, which is operated and managed by Mysk by Shaza, will be one of Shurooq’s key highlights for WTM 2019 visitors and industry experts visiting the Sharjah Pavilion led by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.

The boutique hotels and eco-retreats promoted under the Sharjah Collection includes Kingfisher Lodge, Al Faya Lodge and Al Badayer Oasis.

“Through the diversified portfolio of tourism and leisure projects we are showcasing at WTM 2019 in London, Shurooq aims to highlight its emphasis on sustainable tourism development, promote responsible tourism, and underscore the potential of ecotourism in conservation of natural and cultural heritage,” said Shurooq COO Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer.

WTM 2019 visitors will also be introduced to other offerings including Al Noor Island and the Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-Tourism project. Also on display will be key projects such as Al Bait Hotel and Al Montazah Parks, the statement said.
