Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has announced that it has completed all its stages for providing district cooling services to Cityland Mall, at Global Village in Dubai.
In a statement, Empower said that it has made a total investment of $40.8 million for this district cooling project, as per the contract signed last year. The project has a cooling capacity of 14,000 refrigeration tonnes, it added.
The company highlighted that Cityland Mall will be a mega shopping destination and is poised to become a key attraction for both residents and visitors. It will feature over 350 retail outlets, unique dining options, a variety of entertainment offerings and an expansive ‘Central Park’ – a 200,000 sq ft. botanical garden that will form the nucleus of the single-storey circular-shaped mall.
“We are happy to be working for this huge project and providing it with environmentally-friendly district cooling services. This reflects the cognizance of developers and customers on the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation. The use of district cooling services in major projects contributes to reducing carbon emissions from energy consumption,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
Bin Shafar pointed out that Empower’s district cooling services are witnessing a growing demand from building owners and real estate developers. This is essential to achieve a sustainable development in Dubai and meet the aspirations of UAE’s wise leadership, he said.
Bin Shafar added that Empower constantly develops its systems and provides customers with high-quality district cooling services, through adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the latest technologies in the sector. This, in turn, enhances the confidence level of the UAE market on its district cooling systems, he explained.
Empower’s portfolio includes 7 key sectors in Dubai. These include residential and commercial buildings, hotels, hospitals, educational and university buildings, shopping malls and factories, reaching 1,090 buildings in total, the company said in its statement. The company provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers.
It operates more than 1.43 Million Refrigeration Tons (RT), providing environmentally friendly district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Bluewaters, Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, International Media Production Zone and others.
