$187mn Al Hayer residential project inaugurated
Project to meet the needs of Emirati families and reflects their local identity and culture
A residential project comprising 300 villas in Al Ain City has been completed by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority and the Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada). The $187m Al Hayer project was inaugurated by Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, vice chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
According to a statement, the villas have been built with typologies of Emirati housing in mind, while the community is designed around an ‘Emirati neighbourhood’ concept that is said to meet the needs of Emirati families, and reflects their local identity and culture. The Al Hayer project is also said to have incorporated sustainable practices in its design.
Each villa plot covers 2,025sqm and includes a built-up area of 500sqm, and features a majlis for men and women, three dining and living rooms, five bedrooms, and other utilities.
Following the visit, Sheikh Hazza directed authorities to name the mosque at the Al Hayer complex after the late Suhail bin Mubarak Al Ketbi. The 2,700sqm mosque has the capacity for 1,071 worshipers.
The ‘Emirati Neighbourhood’ is a cohesive community concept, where families live with all the required amenities, including schools, mosques, shopping centres, entertainment and parks, stated Jaber Al Suwaidi, chairman of the Board of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority. He explained that the decision to provide well-built homes for Emirati families helps to strengthen social ties between communities.
Al Suwaidi also reaffirmed that the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority is keen to develop more housing projects for the Emirati people, based on the Abu Dhabi Government’s strategy to implement the best international practices in the construction of government housing projects.
