Malaysia reveals pavilion details for Expo 2020 Dubai

Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment, and Climate Change (Mestecc) has revealed the design details of its rainforest canopy-fitted pavilion for the Expo 2020 Dubai. The structures for the pavilion will be designed by Hijjas Architects + Planners- a Kuala Lumpur-based firm.

According to a statement from Mestecc, the Malaysian pavilion will be located within the Expo’s Sustainability District and will be themed ‘Energising Sustainability’.

Earlier this year, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin had said: “We have over 200 slots for local companies from both the public and private sectors to showcase their wares and solutions to the world via the Expo 2020 Dubai,” adding that the country plans to spend $14.5 million participating in Expo 2020 Dubai, a cost which will be sponsored by the private sector.

Yeo also added that Malaysia is aiming to secure 1,000 business leads and achieve 20 partnership agreements during the six-month long event, with clean energy and green industry two of its key focal points.

Additionally, Malaysia’s twitter account for the Expo 2020 Dubai said that the look and feel of the pavilion’s interior is constructed to show the progress and achievement of Malaysia through futuristic designs and enchanting visitors as they walk into the pavilion.

Expo 2020 Dubai will run from October 20, 2020 to April 20, 2021 and it is estimated the event will attract 25 million visitors to the UAE.
