ISG appointed for fit out of University of Wollongong in Dubai’s new campus
ISG will also provide work experience and internships for the university’s engineering students
ISG has been appointed to fit out the University of Wollongong in Dubai’s (UOWD) new campus in Dubai Knowledge Park. ISG is expected to mobilise to site this month and handover the 200,000sqft project by mid-2020.
The firm’s scope of work includes design validation, completion of the base build, fit out of the ground and six floors of the building from a shell and core finish, delivery of infrastructure required for the IT systems and data rooms, and managing services providers and supply chain partners.
“University of Wollongong in Dubai is one of the most established educational institutions in the region, and we are delighted to be working alongside such a forward-thinking organisation to deliver its campus of the future and give its students quality space that fosters creativity and innovation, and allows them to thrive,” said Scott McCulloch, GM, ISG, Middle East.
The interior of the campus is designed by Woods Bagot, while Alexander Mac is the project manager.
Professor Mohamed Salem, president of the University of Wollongong in Dubai added, “We are proud to be working with ISG to fit out our innovative new campus located in the heart of Dubai. This new campus culminates in 26 years of growth in Dubai as the first international university in the region. From humble beginnings in our first building in 1993, we have grown significantly to our new, purpose-built campus of the future that has been designed from the ground up for our students.”
According to a statement, ISG was appointed following a stringent tendering process, thanks to the experience of its delivery team, and its commitment to adding value to the relationship with University of Wollongong in Dubai. ISG states that it will be providing work experience and internships for the university’s engineering students throughout the project duration and beyond.
Saeed Rehman, bid manager, ISG, Middle East remarked, “We are thrilled to have secured one of the most prestigious fit out projects in the UAE education sector this year. In delivering such a high quality tender submission, we pulled together the best team, for this project, from right across the business and leveraged ISG’s global resources. ISG is one of five companies to hold the BIM Level 2 BSI kitemark, with our processes being certified as being BIM Level 2 compliant, and BIM workflows will add significant value to this project. We are also delighted that our thinking and project plan was so well received and appreciated by this experienced client and the other consultants working on the project.”
ISG notes that it will deploy a multidisciplinary core team of 15 technical and support personnel, to ensure the timely finish of various project phases and thorough application of the most advanced building technologies.
