Wilson Associates drafts in new design director for Dubai studio

Global interior architecture design firm Wilson Associates has appointed Roy Posey as its new Design Director at its  Dubai studio.

Posey will now oversee the studio’s design initiatives, projects, conceptualisation, and staffing, said the firm. He will also serve as a vital mentor to the growing Middle East-based design team.

With a career spanning 15 years, Posey will also represent the rapidly expanding studio at a host of industry events in and around Dubai, explained the firm.

Posey first began his career in interior design conceiving restaurant and bar interior spaces, as well as high-end residential interiors. He has subsequently taken leadership roles for international interior design firms such as Keane, where he was head of design; Hirsch Bedner Associates, Singapore; and the Honest Group.

The firm said that Posey is known throughout the industry for implementing functional design strategies that are optimised for the needs of both leisure and business travellers; “creating thoughtfully designed guest rooms and public spaces that encourage brand loyalty for his clientele.”

According to Wilson Associates, he will leverage that expertise, as well as bring his wealth of industry knowledge and a ‘fresh perspective’ to Wilson Associates.

Posey is currently working on Westin Hotel Ras Al Khaimah; Pai Thai, a Thai restaurant within the Al Qasr Hotel in Dubai; and a large hotel on the new The Island development in Dubai.

“I’ve recognised Wilson Associates as a world-class, luxury hospitality interior architectural design firm for many years,” said Posey. “I’ve kept an ear to the ground on their latest work and commitment to design excellence and was thrilled to learn that a spot opened up at the firm’s Dubai studio.

“I am grateful to have joined such a creative design team and look forward to furthering our reach in the region.”
