Muvi Cinemas agrees Arabian Centres deal to expand Saudi presence
Multiplexes to be built at four destination malls by the end of 2019
Saudi Arabia’s burgeoning cinema market has been boosted by the news that Muvi Cinemas and Arabian Centres have agreed a deal that will see 250 screens open in eight cities over the next two years.
Muvi Cinemas was the first domestic cinema chain created in the Kingdom and has committed to opening five multiplexes at Arabian Centres destination malls by the end of 2019.
A 15-screen complex is near completion at the Mall of Arabia in Jeddah and is expected to be ready to open “in the coming weeks”, the firms confirmed in a statement.
Cinemas opening at Nakheel Mall Dammam, the Mall of Dhahran, Al Hamra Mall in Riyadh and the new boulevard mall complex U-Walk that will open in the capital later this year, they added.
“Through 2020, Arabian Centres will continue to expand its partnership with Muvi Cinemas and launch in an additional 10 malls and will be bringing the movie experience to 8 Saudi cities over the next 24 months bringing the cinema experience to 250 screens. The range of movie experiences available will include the ScreenX, Junior, Suites and bespoke Xperience,” continued the statement.
