Bahrain’s MoW announces start of $2mn extension for girls’ school
Zaedon Building Construction expects works to continue for 18 months
Bahrain’s Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (MoW) has said that construction work is progressing on an additional academic building in West Riffa Intermediate Girls School, for a total cost of $2.07 million.
According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the works were tendered in favour of Zaedon Building Construction, construction project director, Mariam Abdulla Ameen has said, and is expected to be ongoing for the next 18 months.
Ameen added that with the building’s design, the MoW has considered the modern needs and the Ministry of Education is looking to provide a convenient and engaging environment. MoW has completed the design work and is now supervising the project.
The building will be built on 2,238sqm of space, with three floors that contain 16 classes in total, with modern educational facilities.
Moreover, it is designed with the concept of green buildings and energy rationalisation in order to preserve the environment and natural resources.
Ameen expressed that the design also provides ease of movement for students and teachers, by implementing slopes at the entrances of the building as well as providing elevators and spacious restrooms.
In addition, the director concluded that the Ministry of Education is keeping up with the constant demand for new schools and expansion of current schools in different areas, so as to provide ease of education and school districts closer to residential areas.
