Bahrain’s PM announces 45 development and modernisation projects

Total cost of the projects reaches $58mn and part of national infrastructure programme

Bahrain’s Prime Minister, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has announced the implementation of 45 development and modernisation projects in Bahrain worth about $58 million. The orders were issued during the regular Cabinet session chaired by the Prime Minister.

The announced projects are within the framework of the joint municipal projects nationwide, and will cover infrastructure and facilities. It will also aim to improve the quality of services provided by the government to its citizens.

According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) the projects will include the establishment of central markets in Jidhafs, Khalifa Town and Isa Town, and the development of the traditional market in Jidhafs, installing air conditioners at the Isa Town souk, the development of services at the Riffa market, and improvement of Raya Avenue, the entrances and exits of Souq Waqif and the Industrial Area in Arad.

It will also include the pavement of integral roads in Zayed Town and Isa Town, the establishment of gardens and stadiums in Zallaq, Riffa, Zayed Town, Hamad Town, Umm Al-Hassam, Salman Town, Al-Dair, Samaheej and Hoorra.

Additionally, it will also include the completion of the services of the Duraz Port and expand cleaning services to include the new housing areas, according to the BNA.

BNA also stated that minister of Finance and National Economy talked about the financing of the projects and on the coordination efforts with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning for its implementation.
