SNC-Lavalin selected by EGA for three-year services contract

Dubal and Emirates Aluminium (Emal) merged to form EGA in 2013

SNC-Lavalin has won a three-year master services contract for several key Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) projects.

The firm will provide engineering and project management support services to support existing resources in delivering operations capital projects at the Al Taweelah and Jebel Ali smelter complexes and the Al Taweelah alumina refinery.

According to a statement, SNC-Lavalin’s scope of work includes the provision of integrated engineering services covering all multi-disciplinary aspects related to power plant, energy distribution, water desalination, aluminium smelting, casting and carbon plants of EGA’s Al Taweelah and Jebel Ali smelter complexes.

“As a premier engineering end-to-end services provider, we have established a long track record of delivering some of the world’s leading mining and metallurgy projects. Over the past 15 years, we have been successfully delivering EGA’s large-scale projects to the highest quality and safety standards,” said Craig Muir, president (Resources) at SNC-Lavalin.

The contract also outlines the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering services for the Al Taweelah alumina refinery, as well as PM services, including construction management, cost control and planning, contract engineering and project portfolio management.

SNC-Lavalin first began working with EGA in 2004, with the provision of FEED (front end engineering design), EPCM (engineering, procurement and construction management) and technology packaging services for Dubai Aluminium (Dubal) and all its extension projects, the statement noted.

Muir added, “We are honoured to extend our long-term partnership and to continue providing our global-calibre expertise and local knowledge to support industry growth in the UAE.”
