South Korea’s leading cable manufacturer LS Cable & System (LS C&S) has secured a $95 million contract to build a power grid in Kuwait, it has been announced.
According to a report by Pulse News, under the terms of the contract with Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare, LS C&S will build a power grid in Al Mutlaa, a new town being developed 40km northwest of Kuwait City.
As part of the deal, the company will be responsible for supplying 400-kV-class power lines, as well as power grid construction. The project is scheduled to start work next month, with the completion date scheduled for January 2021.
The Korean company first entered the Middle East cable market in early 2000 and it now commands the largest share in the region’s high-voltage power cable sector, the report added.
