Edamah seeking bids for first phase of $8mn Bahrain beachfront project

Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) has said it is accepting RfPs (requests for proposals) for the operation, management and maintenance for phase one of its $8 million beachfront development, Bilaj Al Jazayer.

Located 5 km southwest of Bahrain International Airport, the site is approximately 3 km long and the total beachfront property covers an area of 1.3 million sqm which will include a public beach and 309 leased chalets, once completed.

According to a statement from the company, the development will be implemented in two phases, with phase one focused on improvements to the beachfront and phase two on building a four-star hotel. Edamah also stated that the property will be accessible for both tourists and locals alike and will offer public beaches with pedestrian walkways and leisure outlets for retail and F&B units.

Phase one of the development will comprise improvements to the 1 km beachfront which will be enhanced by a landscape promenade, F&B units and supporting beach amenities. Scope of work will include providing beach-related services and activities, and handling the supervision and maintenance of cleaning and security services.

During the Bahrain International Property Exhibition last year, Amin Alarrayed, CEO of Edamah had announced that Al Hassanain Company and Nass Contracting will be the main contractors for phase one of the development.

“These improvements will offer supporting amenities and entertaining facilities for locals and tourists, which will subsequently create attractive opportunities for investors.”

He added that the scope for this phase of the project is expected to be completed by Q3 2019.

Edamah which is the real estate arm of Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund also stated that the deadline for submitting the RfPs is 2 June , 2019.
