The UAE’s $1.6bn precast industry is set to receive a further boost in popularity as under-utilised plants meet production targets ahead of a predicted spike in demand for precast components.
Already employing more than 25,000 people across the UAE there are currently 29 plants producing components for regional projects, however a report by Zawya has concluded that resource op[timisation issues have led to the output of plants not always being “fully optimised”.
“The region’s construction sector is now on a high growth route with a great number of public and private sector projects at various stages of development,” commented Philip Tabone, chairman of Philip A. Tabone International says.
“To meet these deadlines, contractors need products that are versatile, economical, environment-friendly and durable. This makes precast a popular choice and the Middle East one of the biggest consumers of precast structures today,” Tabone added.
