SirajPower launches its first solar carport in DIP
The carport will save more than 70 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere
SirajPower has announced the launch of its first solar carport which can generate 100,000 kWh of green electricity per year. It is currently functional and has been installed at Hepworth facilities located in Dubai Industrial Park (DIP).
Laurent Longuet, CEO at SirajPower said: “At SirajPower, we are keen to explore and introduce new technologies beyond the roof-top market only. Solar carport is an innovative solution that we can apply to thousands of car parking across the UAE where we see an increasing demand from clients.”
“This development is also in line with DEWA’s Shams initiative and the UAE’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and increase the proportion of solar energy.”
SirajPower noted that the carport will save more than 70 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere, which is equivalent to 280,000 km driven by a passenger vehicle for a year or 1169 tree seedlings grown for 10 years.
Last year, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) had commissioned a solar carport which has been installed at its headquarters and at the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCE) building. The carport project was launched as part of the Shams Dubai initiative. Simultaneously, SirajPower has the benefit of being a DEWA gold partner as it is the only company certified and licensed to provide a comprehensive service in EPC (engineering, procurement and construction), O&M (operation and maintenance) and financing.
The company also stated that it plans to further encourage the adoption of solar carports across the UAE. This is in response to growing demand from businesses willing to use innovative and sustainable technologies in their premises to generate clean energy.
