Hancox picked to lead Turner & Townsend MENA natural resources division

Firm says the move strengthens its offering in the region

Turner & Townsend says it has appointed David Hancox to lead its natural resources division in the Middle East and North Africa.

The professional services company says the move is part of its strategy to strengthen its offering in the region.

Since joining Turner & Townsend over 12 years ago, David has been instrumental in building the business’ natural resources division in Asia and most recently led the UK and Europe Natural Resources business, said the company in a statement.

Based in Abu Dhabi, his new role will see him build on the business’ recent growth in the Middle East.  According to the firm, it recorded close to $60 million in revenue in 2018 across the region with it working on key projects including the UAE Pavilion in Dubai for Expo2020 and Abu Dhabi Airport’s Midfield Terminal Complex.

“Following the volatility in oil prices over the last few years, we are seeing renewed investment from international and national oil companies across the Middle East and North Africa,” said Alan Talabani, regional managing director for the Middle East.

“David’s global experience will ensure we are well placed to support clients as investment in new projects and programmes comes forward – and to match the growth that we have seen across infrastructure and real estate.”

Hancox commented that the impact of the low price period in oil and gas has seen changes across the sector, as well as an opportunity to do things differently as investment returns to the Middle East and North Africa.

“With a strong regional base and team on the ground, I look forward to building momentum for our business and our clients at this critical period for the industry,” he said.
