Azerbaijan has broken ground on its 2,086sqm. pavilion for the upcoming Expo 2020 Dubai. Designed by Italian company, Simmetrico, the pavilion is themed ‘Seeds for the Future’ and supported by the Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku.
General Commissioner Anar Alakbarov, assistant to the first-vice president and director of the Heydar Aliyev Centre and Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, executive director at the Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau attended the ground-breaking ceremony.
Commenting at the ceremony, Alakbarov said: “We are very proud to break ground on our pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. Visitors to our pavilion will be made aware of their own power to have an impact on the environment and on social ecosystems.”
“The pavilion will be light-filled, transparent and welcoming, coming to life with events and opportunities to meet – just like our country!,” he stated.
The pavilion’s aim is to convey the message of investing in the future, today- so that people can achieve sustainable development and improve the places in which they live and work, added Alakbarov.
The design for the pavilion will focus on two natural elements- the tree and leaf, while the eco-friendly pavilion will be designed in a way to allow expo visitors to reflect on major issues related to sustainable development.
