Souk Madinat Jumeirah undergoes major renovation work
Renovation work is expected to be completed in three months without impacting the neighbourhood
Dubai Holding has announced that it has started major renovation works at Souk Madinat Jumeirah, set to be completed over the next three months. The enhancement works are part of a wider plan for the shopping and leisure destination and is expected to create a more convenient and seamless visitor experience.
Commenting on the renovation, managing director of Dubai Holding, Khalid Al Malik said that Madinat Jumeirah has been a cornerstone of Dubai’s tourism industry for the last 15 years, since its inception, drawing in million of visitors.
“The current upgrade aims to not only improve the destination’s connectivity and infrastructure, but to also reimagine its core offerings and build on its reputation as one of Dubai’s most iconic leisure and entertainment-led retail destinations,” he added.
The enhancement work will be conducted in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority and will be executed without impacting access to the surrounding hotels or events taking place at the retail destination, a statement from Dubai Holding said. It also stated that the renovations will cover the interior areas and the main entrance, including the entrance to the conference halls.
The arterial roadways leading to and from the souk will be completely redeveloped to optimise the flow of traffic and reduce waiting times for visitors arriving by car or bus. Meanwhile, a dedicated taxi-entrance and queue line will be developed in addition to a separate bus parking area to relieve congestion and provide a quick and smooth entry and exit, the company said.
Souk Madinat Jumeirah is part of the wider Madinat Jumeirah Resort that features luxury hotels, F&B outlets and other amenities such a banquet, two ballrooms, an amphitheatre and a multi-purpose venue connected by waterways and landscaped gardens.
