Atkins has appointed Grant Porter as chief executive of its engineering, design and project management business in the Middle East and Africa. In his role, Porter will oversee current engineering, design and project management projects and is responsible for driving future growth prospects.
According to Atkins, Porter has over 26 years of international and regional experience in professional services, construction and project management across the MEA, Europe and Asia region. The firm notes that he has been involved in acquisitions and integrations, as well as major construction projects.
“Atkins has established a world-class reputation by delivering some of the region’s most iconic projects that meet cities’ growth demand and maximise economic impact. Over the past 10 years, Porter has played an integral role in growing our regional business presence as part of the senior leadership team, and recently as chief operating officer. As CEO, he will continue to drive our growth strategy and cement our regional footprint that has spanned over 50 years,” said Nick Roberts, president of Engineering, Design and Project Management at Atkins.
Porter joined Atkins in the Middle East in 2009 as regional finance director, following which he became chief operating officer and now CEO. He was previously regional finance director at Hyder Consulting (now Arcadis) in the Middle East and worked in finance positions with KPMG and IBM in the UK.
Atkins also named Adrian Lindon as the new MD of its Design and Engineering business. He will report to Porter and is tasked with growing the company’s capabilities and addressing the rapid growth in the region, focusing on innovation and design transformation.
According to a statement from Atkins, Lindon has undertaken several leadership and management positions with the company across the Middle East and North America in the last 12 years. Prior to this, he worked in the UK and Asia Pacific.
