They are scheduled to open in February and is expected to increase connectivity to the mall
Emaar has announced that it has made significant progress in the construction of five new retail link bridges to further strengthen road connectivity to The Dubai Mall.
The bridge-extension falls under The Dubai Mall’s Zabeel expansion and are executed by the developer with the support of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). They are scheduled to open in February.
The bridge connects the mall with the Doha Road/Financial Centre Road and will be third in Downtown Dubai that enhances the ease of access for visitors. Previously Emaar has opened link bridges from Dubai Metro station as well as between Address Boulevard and the Metro Link, the company said in statement.
The elevated bridges will have a length of over 1.78 km and a decked area of about 15,000 sqm. The longest bridge is over 765 m while the other vary in length from 120 m to 582 m. The bridges are buttressed by over 580 piles of varying diameter adding to their stability and strength.
Emaar has also stated that work on the bridge spans are being done in the early hours of the morning to minimise disturbance for drivers, with the support of RTA and the Dubai Police.
The bridge spans are constructed and pre-assembled in Al Quoz and then erected over the piers to accelerate the completion while the final steelwork connection will be made on site. The bridge spans are lifted into position using heavy-duty cranes and then fortified with asphalt, and then finishing touches are carried out.
Emaar also added that the Zabeel expansion will further add to the retail, F&B and entertainment choices for visitors to the mall.
