Work begins on $80.5m Bahraini projects

The municipality of Bahrain’s capital city, Manama, has announced that construction works would begin next year on one of the country’s biggest seafronts, following extensive delays to the project.

Work on the $14.21m King Faisal Corniche project was set to begin work two years ago, but was halted as a major road expansion project took priority.

The development will comprise of a theme park and tourist attractions, family facilities, restaurants and a 1km long walkway, the municipality said.

Furthermore, a consortium of Turkish, Saudi and Bahraini businessmen said that they had received the necessary approval to proceed with a multi-million dollar marina development on the Muharraq coastline, local paper, Gulf Daily News, reported.

The $66.3m project faces Manama and will include a hotel, public beach, shopping mall and an indoor and outdoor theme park. Commercial and residential buildings would also be built, the report said.
