Largest Indian urban development launched
Mixed-use Bhartiya City to span 125 acres and will be built in North Bangalore
India’s largest urban development within the limits of any metropolitan area has been launched by real estate and infrastructure development company Bhartiya Urban.
The 125 acre city masterplanned by Broadway Malyan will be built in North Bangalore and will feature residential, retail, hospitality, social infrastructure and transportation projects.
Split into three precincts, the first will feature 2400 residential units; precinct two and three will comprise 460,000sqm of mixed-use development over basement parking, and will feature: six office towers, three hotels, a convention centre, shopping centre, cinema, park and major landscaped areas, and ‘Celebration Square’, a public performance area for 5000 people.
A first for the country, the city is also designed to be sustainable.
“This project launch is a major chapter for our practice in India, where we opened a permanent office in 2011, and it is testament to our integrated and world-class team of diverse design experts working in close partnership with our visionary client, across a wide range of sector disciplines, to create an inspirational place that will improve the quality of life for many,” commented Broadway Malyan chairman Stuart Rough.
India is second only to China for the volume of PPP projects and $1tr has been earmarked to improve infrastructure over the next five years, by the country’s planning commission.
