Nakheel and RIU confirm roofing is underway on Deira Islands resort
Nakheel said that the accommodation floors of the 800-room beachfront resort and water park are also close to completion
Nakheel and Spain’s RIU Hotels & Resorts have revealed that roofing work is underway on their $182 million resort on Deira Islands, Nakheel’s waterfront development currently built on four man-made islands.
In a statement, Nakheel said that the accommodation floors of the 800-room beachfront resort and water park are also close to completion. Floor tiling is ahead of schedule and the contractors on the projects have begun the works for the resort’s three swimming pools and restaurant as well as the amenity buildings.
One of the emirate’s largest hotel developments in terms of rooms, the resort is the first international hospitality joint venture for Nakheel and described as the first all-inclusive 4-star family beach resort in Dubai.
Once completed, the resort will feature seven food and beverage outlets, three pools, a fitness complex, children’s club and water park. Two major new Nakheel projects – The Night Market and Deira Mall – are located nearby.
Nakheel awarded a $122 million contract to Wade Adams Contracting during the summer to provide the main access route to the new 15.3sqkm waterfront city. The developer added that it has invested more than $2.4 billion in infrastructure and project construction to date, and will add 40km of coastline to Dubai. The development is expected to have a population of 250,000, and create 80,000 jobs.
