ENGIE and ALEC invest to help S4P become regional energy saving powerhouse
Smart4Power (S4P) has several projects underway in the GCC, including the Dubai Airport retrofit project
Global energy and services group ENGIE has acquired a significant stake of Smart4Power (S4P) joining ALEC as the major shareholders of the company.
S4P was one of the first accredited independent energy services company (ESCO) in the region and provides energy saving solutions for existing buildings in the public and private sectors.
The Dubai-based company has several projects underway in the UAE, KSA and Kuwait, including the Dubai Airport retrofit project. It has already retrofitted 1,700 buildings and S4P intends to reach 10,000 improved facilities in the next four years, “thanks to a healthy pipeline of projects in hotels, schools, hospitals and other commercial and residential buildings.”
S4P claims its retrofitting projects bring in average between 20% to 30% energy cost savings to building owners with a payback lower than 2.5 years. It also offers financing to client projects removing the need for capex investments which it plans to roll-out regionally.

The companies believe S4P will benefit from ENGIE’s global energy services expertise as well as its strategic presence in the region, and from ALEC’s world class project execution capabilities.
