Scaffold safety campaign launched

Abu Dhabi Municipality launches campaign to spread awareness and educate workers

The Abu Dhabi Municipality has launched a campaign aimed at spreading awareness to educate individuals working in the building and construction sector on the risks associated with the use of scaffoldings at work sites.

As part of the drive, the Health, Environment and Safety Division of the civic body organised a workshop entitled “Highlighting the Risks of Scaffolds” which saw the participation of over 400 representatives of contractor and consultant firms in Abu Dhabi, as well as firms specialised in the field of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE).

The department has also developed a programme to suspend the firms violating the HSE standards at building and construction sites online.

“The programme uses the building construction code (CDP) and the management of the mobile inspection (MMIS) such that all online transactions of the project on the CDP will be suspended pending the fulfilment of the HSE conditions and standards, processing of offence removal formalities, and payment of due fines pursuant to Law No (16) for 2009,” said Salah Awad Al Sarraj, acting executive director of Town Planning Sector at the municipality.
