Oman road project attracts global firms
Project tentatively scheduled to finish by the year 2016, Ministry of Transport and Communications says
Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced the tender for dualising the Bidbid-Sur road has attracted major local and international contractors.
So far, the list of bidders include Gharbia Enterprises, Consolidated Contractors Company, Ozkar Construction, Larsen & Toubro (Oman), Yuksel Construction, Strabag Oman, Wade Adams Oman, and STFA, the ministry said.
The project starts from the Bidbid Interchange on the Rusayl-Nizwa dual carriageway and ends at Bilad Sur roundabout in Sur town.
Once completed, tentatively by the year 2016, the project will transform the largely single-lane carriageway into an all-weather motorway with a design speed of 120km per hour.
The $260m Section 2 of the project covers a 132km stretch from Ibra to Sur.
