Perkins+Will (P+W) has appointed a new operations director. Andrew Mowat will be based in the firm’s Dubai office, where he will be responsible for resourcing, finance, revenue and operations. He will report directly to P+W’s MD, Roger Wilson.
Mowat boasts over 20 years of experience, including nine years of regional experience spread across commercial, hospitality, medical, leisure and multi-use developments. His portfolio of projects is said to include the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition and Conference Centre, Capital Gate, Manarat Al Saadiyat Museum, The Heart of Doha, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, W-Hotel Palm Jumeirah and Al Madina A’Zarqa, formerly known as Blue City.
Commenting on his appointment, Mowat said, “I am excited to take on a new challenge at Perkins+Will, an industry leader in providing world-class design services across a multitude of end-markets and projects. I am looking forward to working with a forward-thinking and innovative team, and I am very much aligned with Perkins+Will’s vision and goals for the future.”
Mowat is a qualified architect and has experience in people management and full business management. He has previously held roles at Aedas and RMJM.
Weighing in on the region’s architectural landscape, Mowat notes, “While every industry has its challenges, I predict a very bright future for Perkins+Will and the industry as a whole. Ongoing and future projects in the pipeline represent some of the smartest and most innovative developments in the region, which is already known for its cutting-edge and boundary-pushing projects.”
Mowat also sits on the RIBA Gulf Chapter Committee as Honorary Treasurer and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbiters. Before moving to the Middle East, Mowat sat on the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Contracts and Appointments Committee.
