Grundfos drafts in new head for Middle East operation

Pump manufacturer Grundfos has appointed one of its senior executives for Asia Pacific to head its East Europe, West Asia, Middle East & Africa regional operation.

Okay Barutçu will act as group SVP and regional managing director takes over at the helm of Grundfos East Europe, West Asia, Middle East & Africa region following the creation of a newly defined sales region at the start of the year. He will be based in Dubai where a new Regional Headquarters will be setup to serve the East Europe, West Asia, Middle East & Africa markets.

In his new role, Barutçu will lead the company’s business across over 80 countries including 14 wholly-owned sales companies, a number of liaison offices and local assembly plants in the region, said Grundfos. He will also be spearhead opportunities for the company’s development and expansion in this region.

Barutçu was previously group SVP and regional managing director for the Asia Pacific markets. Serving in the role since 2015, he was responsible for 22 countries with 14 wholly owned sales companies and local assembly plants. Prior to his Asia Pacific role, Okay served as the GM in Turkey, where he was responsible for all sales, marketing and production activities in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

“During his tenure in the Asia Pacific, Okay managed to transform and strengthen this very dynamic region for the company. I am sure his experience and expertise in developing emerging markets will further support Grundfos’ growth in the East Europe, West Asia, Middle East and Africa markets,” said Poul Due Jensen, group executive VP sales, marketing and service, Grundfos.
