Ahalia Group to build hospital in Sharjah in partnership with SHCC
$100mn hospital will be the first Ahalia Group facility within Sharjah Healthcare City
The Ahalia Group plans to build Sharjah’s first multi-specialty hospital. The hospital, which is estimated to require an investment of $100 million, will be built in partnership with the Sharjah Healthcare City Authority (SHCC).
The project will be delivered in phases and the Ahalia Group says work on the clinic building and healthcare offices, which will be spread over 10,000sqm, will begin after summer. The 120-bed facility, which will occupy 50,000sqm is the first Ahalia hospital within Sharjah Healthcare City.
The announcement follows an agreement that was signed in 2017 between Ahalia Group and SHCC, which outlined the development of the hospital on the Al Rahmania side of the healthcare city, according to a statement from SHCC.
Abdulla Ali Al Mahyan, chairman of SHCC said, “We are delighted to open doors to Ahalia and we are proud of the fact, that the brand has originated out of the UAE. Furthermore, I am happy to announce that the SHCC plans have nearly doubled, ensuring that we are able to provide people with the best possible medical treatment that technology has to offer.”
SHCC’s master development was originally designed to occupy 2.4m sqm but will now double its area to 4.8m sqm, and will accommodate several global hospitals and other related companies.
“The extended healthcare city will now provide state-of-the-art medical services to rival those found anywhere in the world and position the Emirate as one of the top medical tourism destinations,” Mahyan added.
SHCC said that as part of the updated plan, a state-of-the-art medical logistics zone will be created within the heathcare city.
Dr. VS Gopal, MD of Ahalia Group of Hospitals remarked, “Our partnership here with SHCC is due to a mutual respect and admiration of what they are trying to achieve. We aim to be able to fulfil the healthcare requirements in Sharjah by utilizing the best industry practices, with the help of the latest technology in the hands of some of the world’s the best healthcare professionals.”
