Abu Dhabi sees 14.9% rise in August construction wages

Prices of several groups of building materials in Abu Dhabi witnessed changes during August 2012, compared with the previous month, with the rises ranging between 0.4% for paints and 14.9% for construction labour.

Meanwhile, declines ranged from 0.7% for power cables to 12.4% for waterproofing products, the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) said.

The rise wages of construction workers ranged from 7.1% for electricians to 25% for carpenters and metal fixers.

The average monthly prices of the cement group during August compared with July 2012 dropped by 2.6%, reflecting a decrease of 21.4% in the price per tonne of Al- Etihad Portland Cement/UAE.

The monthly report of building materials prices report surveys the prices of 21 groups that represent the most important materials used in the construction activity.
