Dentons named ‘Construction Team of the Year’ at Middle East Legal Awards

Dentons has been named ‘Construction Team of the Year’ at the Middle East Legal Awards for the second year running in recognition of its work on Reem mall.

According to co-hosts Legal Week and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Middle East, the awards had a record number of submissions in 2018 and the awards ceremony was further attended by nearly 400 lawyers from across the region.

Dentons said it earned the construction award for acting as lead counsel on the drafting and negotiation of the construction contracts for the $1.2 billion Reem Mall, a landmark US$1.2 billion development in Abu Dhabi and home to the world’s largest indoor snow play area, Snow Park.

The firm’s team was led by partner Ian Dalley, one of a few lawyers in the Middle East who is also dual-qualified as an engineer.

Dentons’ TMT team led by Dentons’ regional head of TMT, Kelly Tymburski was additionally ‘Highly Commended’ for advising on the drafting of a regulatory framework for the establishment of Sharjah Media City (SMC) free zone.

“We are pleased to continue to be recognised by our clients, peers and industry leaders for our work on market-leading projects across the region,” said Dubai managing partner and head of Construction and Dispute Resolution for Dentons in the Middle East, Alastair Young.

“These awards are acknowledgement of our legal excellence on significant projects for both clients and our local communities,” added Paul Jarvis, Middle East managing partner.
