Alstom wins $19m Sohar refinery contract

Project is part of a $60m investment plan for environmental improvement, ORPIC CEO says

Alstom will help cut the emissions of breaking units at Sohar refinery.

Oman Refineries Petrochemical Industries Company (ORPIC) has announced the Tender Board has awarded France’s Alstom the contract to cut the emissions of the breaking units at Sohar refinery.

To be implemented within eight months, the $19m project is part of a $60m investment plan for the environmental improvement that will be implemented by 11 local and international companies through a number of phases, said Musab bin Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, CEO of ORPIC.

It is also a basic requirement for the Sohar Refinery expansion project, which is to be tendered soon. A detailed study of the expansion project is currently under technical study by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, said Al Mahrouqi.
