The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme has signed a $84m contract with Aswar Engineering & General Contracting Company. According to a report from state news agency WAM, the deal makes the contractor responsible for the construction and maintenance of phase two of the Bateen Al Samar Residential Complex in Ras Al Khaimah.
Located between the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road, the second phase of the project is an extension of the $89m first phase, which was first launched two years ago, in March 2016. Phase two will add 240 new houses to the housing project.
The contract was signed by Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, minister of Infrastructure Development and chairman of Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme.
The contractor is said to have begun site preparation early this month, with construction expected to begin in Q3, 2018.
The project is part of a fully-integrated and serviced housing city, which offers facilities such as schools, hospitals, mosques, an internal road network, sports and entertainment facilities.
