Samsung launches Wind-Free air-conditioner at HVACR Expo Saudi

World’s first air-conditioner of its kind cools without the discomfort of direct cold air flow while reducing energy bills, says manufacturer

Samsung has unveiled the world’s first “Wind-Free” wall-mounted air-conditioner at the HVACR Expo Saudi in Jeddah.

According to the manufacturer, the new model has been designed for the Middle Eastern climate and integrates Samsung’s exclusive Wind-Free Cooling technology into its design, providing customers with a cooler indoor climate and optimal energy efficiency without the discomfort of direct cold air flow.

“Consumers will love the cool, efficient air conditioning capabilities of the Wind-Free air-conditioner in their living and working spaces,” said Ismail Yoon, managing director at Samsung Gulf Electronics KSA. “And they will really love that they no longer have to deal with uncomfortable cold air, (while enjoying) reduced electricity bills.”

With Samsung’s Wind-Free Cooling, the air-conditioner maintains a comfortable room temperature by gently dispersing cold air through 21,000 micro air holes, said Saher Hilal, head of air-conditioning at Samsung KSA.

“A two-step cooling system, which first lowers temperature in ‘Fast Cooling’ mode and then automatically switches to ‘Wind-Free Cooling’ mode, creates ‘still air’ once the desired temperature is reached,” said Hilal. This approach can also reduce energy consumption by up to 72% compared to Fast Colling mode, he added.

According to Samsung, using its new Digital Inverter 8-Pole with POWERboost technology, the compressor’s motor generates fewer torque fluctuations, reducing the overall energy required and shortening the time needed for the compressor to reach its maximum rotation speed.

The Wind-Free air-conditioner is also Wi-Fi-enabled, so it can be controlled from anywhere through Samsung’s Smart Home app. Users can remotely regulate temperature, adjust settings, receive real time updates about performance and daily energy usage, as well as conduct troubleshooting when repair is needed.

The Wind-Free air-conditioner’s unique Triangle Architecture has a wider inlet which allows more air to be drawn in at once, while the optimal width and angle of the outlet, extra v-blades, and large fan – 22% larger than previous models – ensure air is cooled and expelled faster, farther and wider, said the manufacturer.

Samsung also unveiled the world’s first Wind-Free One-Way and Four-Way Cassette air-conditioners at the show. The models aim to offer the commercial construction market and the business sector reliable HVAC solutions.
