Majid Al Futtaim opens $18.6 million My City Centre Al Dhait in Ras Al Khaimah
Community focused retail destination incorporates green building protocols and is part of company’s plan to increase investment in UAE
UAE-based mall developer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) recently opened its latest property, My City Centre Al Dhait, in Ras Al Khaimah, which marks another investment by the company in a community and convenience-focused retail and services destination.
A statement from MAF said the $18.65 million mall, which has a total area of 7,000sqm and a gross leasable area of 5,494sqm, houses more than 30 regional and international lifestyle brands. My City Centre Al Dhait is MAF’s third My City Centre mall in the UAE, a neighbourhood shopping and dining destination created specifically for nearby residential and commercial communities.
Easily accessible from Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, My City Centre Al Dhait has a varied retail offering, led by a Carrefour Market for household goods and fresh produce. There are also several dining options, including the most popular international fast food brands, said the statement.
The opening of My City Centre Al Dhait reinforces MAF’s commitment made in 2016 to increase investments in the UAE by $8bn by 2026, taking its total investments in the country to $13bn, the statement added.
As part of MAF’s sustainability strategy, My City Centre Al Dhait follows green building protocols with facilities such as collecting condensed water from air-conditioning and ventilations systems for use in irrigation. The mall is also fitted with LED lights and features water-saving low-flow fixtures and faucets. The single-storey property meets LEED Gold criteria and its solar-panelled parking bay shades, which incorporate photovoltaic cells, are expected to deliver energy savings of 7.5%.
My City Centre Al Dhait complements MAF’s investments in the UAE’s Northern Emirates, which include the expansion of both City Centre Ajman and City Centre Sharjah in 2018, said the company.
