BAM International appointed for construction of Yas Arena

Construction is expected to be complete by November 2019

Miral Asset Management has appointed BAM International for the construction of Yas Arena on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island. The arena will boast a temperature controlled environment and will be used to host a variety of events once it is open for business.

The arena was designed by global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm HOK, with support from Pascall+Watson. Yas Arena will be located on Yas Island’s waterfront and will serve as an anchor for a promenade, which will feature over 50 cafes and restaurants, 20 retail outlets, a recreational pier, two hotels and a beach club.

BAM International expects to complete construction work on the project by November 2019. The firm has previously delivered other projects on Yas Island, including the Crowne Plaza and Staybridge suites hotels, as well as the ‘Welcome Pavilion’, which offers visitors shopping, resting and leisure areas.

Events company Flash Entertainment has already announced its intent to host sports events and concerts at Yas Arena, once it is open for business. The arena was designed specifically so it could accommodate a wide variety of events and can expand from a 500-seat theatre to an 18,000-seat venue for larger scale events.
