Saudi Arabia preparing a national housing strategy

Saudi Arabia is studying a number of proposals aimed at drawing up a comprehensive national housing strategy to meet the growing housing needs in the Kingdom.

In addition to receiving more than 340 suggestions on the proposed strategy from ministries including the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Housing has also consulted with experts in the field before setting out on the housing strategy and sentthe first draft to the related ministries.

“We are going through the suggestions and opinions which have been received from the ministries and will take appropriate steps to draft and implement a housing strategy,” said a spokesman for the Ministry of Housing.

As part of proposed strategy, the ministry seeks to ensure that all Saudi citizens own houses, and plans to actively participate in the growing real estate and housing sectors.
