Paul Woodman joins as UK managing director for ASGC

Paul Woodman has joined ASGC UK as managing director according to a statement from the UAE-based company.

Woodman was previously managing director of the Kier Group in the Middle East, a position he held for seven years.

ASGC UK was established late in 2015 and has focused its efforts on sourcing UK-based construction suppliers to support its parent company’s projects in the UAE. The subsidiary is also working towards enhancing ASGC’s ability to provide funding to customers and projects that qualify for UK Export Finance (UKEF) support.

As managing director, Woodman will be responsible for overseeing relationships with UAE-based customers who are looking for UKEF-support financing on projects. He will also be tasked with expanding the firm’s activities into the wider GCC region, as well as specific markets in Africa.

Speaking on his appointment, Woodman said, “In recent years, ASGC has demonstrated that it can consistently offer great value to its clients, not only by providing the certainty of delivery that they are seeking for their projects but also by introducing new and innovative ways of working and developing bespoke solutions that meet their needs. It is an honour for me to join the ASGC family and I look forward to helping the Group further enhance its reputation for excellence, reliability and customer focus.”

Woodman is said to have considerable experience in export credit financing, and has led several projects supported by UK Export Finance (‘UKEF’) in the UAE over the past seven years.

Bishoy Azmy, CEO of ASGC said: “With his extensive experience both in the region and in the UK, Paul was the ideal choice to head up our UK division. We welcome him on board and look forward to his contribution in further strengthening ASGC’s relationship with partners in the UK, the UAE and beyond.”
