The Kuwaiti government has named consultants for four major hospital construction contracts currently being tendered.
The projects include a 600-bed maternity hospital, the IBN SINA hospital, a paediatric hospital project, and the Al-Razi hospital, all of which are expected to cost around $2bn to build, according to a report by MEED.
Additionally, the Gulf country’s Health Ministry is undertaking a programme to expand nine existing hospitals.
Last June, the ministry awarded an estimated $617.5m deal to the local Alghanim International General Trading & Contracting to expand the Kuwait Cancer Centre in the Sabah area of Kuwait.
It also awarded a $347m contract in April to the local Associated Construction Company for the main construction package on the project to expand the Al-Amiri hospital.
The projects are part of Kuwait’s plans to expand its healthcare infrastructure to cope with its rapidly growing population.
