CB&I wins storage tanks project in Saudi Arabia
Tanks are part of a clean fuels expansion upgrade
Technology and infrastructure specialist CB&I has announced that it has won a contract from Técnicas Reunidas for new product storage tanks at Saudi Aramco’s refinery in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia. Under the terms of the contract, CB&I will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction of nine flat bottom tanks.
The new storage tanks are part of a clean fuels expansion project that Saudi Aramco is embarking on at the refinery. The contract also specifies that CB&I will be responsible for modifications to the refinery’s existing tanks, all of which were originally supplied by CB&I.
“This award reinforces our global relationship with Técnicas Reunidas and builds on our nearly 80-year history of supporting Saudi Aramco. Beginning in 1938, CB&I has provided nearly all of the product storage at the Ras Tanura facility,” said Luke V Scorsone, executive vice president of CB&I’s fabrication services operating group.
CB&I will provide all fabrication and project management through its local facilities in Al Khobar, in support of Saudi Aramco’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add programme. The project will also support CB&I in its efforts to train, develop and employ Saudi nationals in key positions.
