Sharjah launches $40m University City Road project
Sharjah Urban Planning Council project is being developed in collaboration with transport authority
Sharjah Urban Planning Council (SUPC) has announced the launch of the University City Road Enhancement Project, a $40 million project that is being developed in collaboration with the Sharjah Road and Transport Authority.
The project is aligned with the leadership of Sharjah’s plans to ensure the sustainable development of the emirate, while also creating a world-class urban planning system to guarantee quality and responsive projects, a report on WAM said.
Extending three kilometres, the project will encompass more than 52,000sqm of land and aims to transform the area in front of the existing businesses on University City Road, the report added.
Starting from Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road and running through to University City, the project will create a modern, well organised, useable and sustainable public realm, it said. Among other amenities, the project will include wide sidewalks, landscaped areas that will include native plant species, a bike path and parking.
