UAE infrastructure ministry managing 12 projects worth $390m
Projects are spread across the UAE and include roads, as well as building construction for federal services
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development is currently managing 12 major projects across the UAE, worth a total of $390 million dollars, it has been revealed.
According to a report released on WAM, the Emirates’ official news agency, the Minister of Infrastructure Development, Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, said that the projects include five road projects that connect the country’s various regions.
There are also four projects for the Ministry of Interior, two projects for the Ministry of Justice, and one project for the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, he said.
Al Nuaimi added that road projects include the first phase of the road connecting Sheikh Khalifa Highway in Fujairah with the Khatm Melaha Centre and E99 Road, the Hamad bin Abdullah Road project in Fujairah, the intersection of the Al Badi Bridge in Sharjah, and the second phase of the extension of the Al Emarat Suhaila-Al Shamal Road, as well as a contract to develop Al Ittihad Road, E11, from Falaj Al Mualla Umm Al Quwain Road, E55, to Al Salam Bridge.
The Ministry of Interior projects also include the second unit of the Special Security Force Command Building in Seeh Al Mahab-Al Dhaid in Sharjah, a multi-service Al Daggaga Police Centre in Ras al-Khaimah, the Citizenship and Residence Building in Umm Al Quwain and the Shamel Centre branch building of the Al Dhaid Police in Sharjah.
The projects for the Ministry of Justice include the two buildings of the Khor Fakkan Court in Sharjah and the Masfout Court in Ajman. The Cultural Centre branch in Fujairah is its sole project for the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.
Dr Al Nuaimi highlighted that the ministry is responsible for the first phase of the road to connect Sheikh Khalifa Highway in Fujairah with the Khatm Melaha Centre and E99 Road, with a total length of 4.4 km and a total cost of $32.6 million, which is expected to be finished in the third quarter of the current year.
He also indicated that the ministry has launched work on expanding Hamad bin Abdullah Street, a main artery in Fujairah, which is expected to be finished during the first quarter of 2020 at a total cost of $68 million.
He added that the intersection of Al Badi Bridge, which is expected to be finished by the end of the current year at a total cost of $54.45 million, comprises three parts that include building a bridge channel traffic from Dubai to Sharjah directly to University City via a three-lane bridge in one direction.
The second part is a three-lane exit road for those coming from Sharjah to Dubai. The third part is the expansion of the current bridge at the intersection between Al Emarat Street and Maliha Street from three to seven lanes.
