South Korea’s GS Engineering and Construction, announced on Tuesday that it had won a $1.8bn deal to build four petrochemical plants and other facilities in Saudi Arabia.
The company said that it would complete the plants by 2015, in collaboration with the government owned oil giant, Aramco and Japan’s Sumitomo Oil.
The order, which is the biggest the Korean firm has won overseas this year, is part of a $3.2bn petrochemical project being completed to the north of Jeddah.
The plants being constructed are for the production of ethylene propylene, methyl tert-butyl ether and methyl methacrylate.
