Nakheel signs $7.5m deal to build Jumeirah Park Community Centre
Developer appoints Parkway International Contracting as main contractor for project
Nakheel, the Dubai based real estate developer, announced on Sunday that it had signed a $7.5m contract for the construction of the Jumeirah Park Community Centre, a new 10,600m2 facility in its growing portfolio.
Parkway International Contracting has been appointed as the main contractor for the community centre, which will serve 4,200 homes in the Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Village Triangle and Jumeriah Park areas.
“Neighbourhood malls are a key part of our business plan. We are enhancing our communities with convenient, local facilities that people want and need,” Sanjay Machanda, acting CEO of Nakheel.
Construction of the centre is expected to begin immediately and is expected to be complete within the next 12 months. Nakheel has said that it has already leased out most of the retail outlets in the centre, with anchor tenant Geant taking up 2,400m2, or almost a quarter of the available space.
Other confirmed tenants include the Early Learning Centre, Bin Sana Pharmacy, Barakat Optical, Gloria Jeans, Pizzaro and Cafe del Roma, among others.
