Gulf Extrusions has won a contract with an institution in Saudi Arabia to supply 800 tonnes of its green aluminium alloy, X-ECO.
Produced from recycled aluminium, X-ECO saves between 60 – 80% C0? during production compared to exploiting primary aluminium.
“The KSA project win gives us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the distinct benefits of X-ECO alloys, which we believe will set a new precedent across the Middle East region. Moreover, it also complements Saudi Arabia’s genuine commitment to adopt sustainable building practices, which is resulting in a steady shift towards the use of green building technology,” said general manager Modar Al Mekdad.
“In line with our focus on sustainable development, Gulf Extrusions has been committed to contributing to the large-scale reduction in the consumption of raw materials and waste generated. By using systematically re-melted aluminium and processing it into alloys, we are able to make a major contribution towards the reduction of CO2 emissions,” he added.
Part of the Al Ghurair Group of Companies, the firm also has an in-house aluminium scrap re-melting plant with a recycling capacity of 12,000 MT a year.
